Welcome to Old Geezer Soapworks, where my homemade soap is made with pure all natural vegetable oils and lots of care and superfatted with cocoa butter.
I have been making my homemade, 100% natural soap since 2002, using only the highest quality, all natural wholesome ingredients that are good for your skin. The colorings are all natural also.
I make my homemade soap using an all vegetable oil base which helps to create a mild, high quality gourmet soap bar that is long lasting and has a rich, luxurious lather. NO animal fats are used at all and only herbs and spices are used to color my soap. The oils used are babassu oil, coconut oil, castor oil, rice bran oil, cocoa butter, herbs and lye. Yes, I need to use lye because with out it you just can't make soap. Lye combines with the oils in a process called saponification to produce soap and glycerin. The glycerin in handmade soap helps to leave your skin silky soft. All of my soaps are homemade "from scratch" using the old fashioned cold process method because I believe that soap should be made from ingredients you would actually want to put on your skin, and be free of the preservatives and alcohol you find in commercial soap.
My natural handmade soap cleans your skin while the glycerin keeps your skin feeling soft and moisturized. Each handmade bar is safe, mild and gentle on your skin. During the saponification process, a by-product called glycerin is formed. The glycerin is so valuable as a skin care product, the commercial soap makers remove the glycerin from their soap and market it as a by-product. Commercial soap just doesn't measure up to the high quality skin care and simple luxury of 100% natural handmade soap because there are no detergents or synthetics which may irritate and dry out your skin
All of my soaps are handmade here in the kitchen, one small batch at a time. Various other ingredients in addition to the base oils are added to create one of a kind handmade soap that everyone can enjoy. Oatmeal is used in the oatmeal milk and honey bars as a gentle exfoliant, and honey moisturizes the skin. Spices such as paprika, turmeric, sage and thyme add a touch of color. Herbs and flower petals give texture, added scent, and an interesting appearance. No detergents, animal fat, artificial preservatives, hydrogenated oils, or petroleum products will be found in any of my soaps.
After the soap has gone through it's saponification process it is taken out of the mold left to cure and harden for 4 to 6 weeks. Because of the glycerin content of handmade soap, leaving the soap in a puddle of water can cause it to get very soft and melt on the bottom, so a homemade soap bar will require a small amount of attention in order to lengthen its life span. Using a soap dish that drains will keep your soap dry and stop it from melting away. Store your bar of soap in a dry location when in not in use.
Due to each soap batch being created individually, the finished colors of each bar will vary slightly, even though all the same ingredients are used each time for a specific fragrance or design.
Each 6lb batch of oils for the soap contain a full 16oz's of cocoa butter and castor oil. That's a lot more than most other soap recipes because we use also use our soap here as a shampoo and for shaving.
